Top 10 Best Solar Cooker Recipes Reading Sourdough Rosemary Baguette 3 minutes

Bread recipes are some of the most popular in the GoSun community. That's because it's one of the tastiest items to make on a solar cooker. Think about it -- you are making it with the sun, which is how bread has been cooked since the beginning of human civilization. So let's get a little Sumerian and check out a brand new recipe!

Below is a recipe from somebody in our community on making Sourdough Rosemary Baguette. You can make it on just about any GoSun solar oven, although this one was specifically made on the Sport.

The Recipe

Here's what our community member has to say:

I got the bread recipe online and played with it a bit. It's an easy yeast bread by recipetineats.com.

I cut recipe in half, added a little WW, rye, dried rosemary and sourdough starter discard.

Mix
1 c bread flour
1/2 c whole wheat/rye
1 t salt
1 t rapid rise yeast
1/2 t dried rosemary (optional)

Then you mix 1/2 cup warm water, 1/4 cup of sourdough starter discard. Add to flour mixture. Mix by hand in until all flour is incorporated. Should be a slightly wet or shaggy dough. Cover and let rise in a warm spot 1-3 hours.

I let it rise for 2.5 hours, then stretched it out in my Sport on parchment. Baked it 1.5 hours, reversing it about after 50 minutes, and brushed it lightly with butter and occasionally opening end a wee bit to let more moisture out.

It's like a baguette. The recipe says you can let it rise and then refrigerate for up to three days to build up more flavor. It has a nice crust and is soft on the inside. There is a slight tang and you can really taste the rosemary.

I was worried it was going to rise in the Sport and get stuck, but there was no problem. If anything, I’d start earlier & let it rise a second time after stretching it out on the tray. Total cooking time is four hours.
